there are many types of different gangs in Canada from aboriginal crime groups to motorcycle gangs, these gangs primarily make their money from illegal drugs, guns and even prostitution. I am going to be looking at what these groups do, how they do it, what they control, and also where they are based in Canada.
Motorcycle Gangs:
In Canada the first thing you probably think of when you think of motorcycle gangs are the Hell's Angels, this group is one of the most well known motorcycle gangs. The Hell's Angels started in California in 1948 and have spread all around the world including in Canada. They are not just based in one place in Canada, however there is a large amount of people from this group in British Columbia and Ontario. Like any other organized crime group their main goal is to make some kind of profit, they do this by drug dealing, murder, prostitution, theft, and more. They do all this by getting rid of whoever stands in their way and by treating it like a business. Like any business the main goal is to make money so they will do whatever it takes to make large profit.
Ethnic Crime Groups:
Ethnic Crime groups are organized groups who's members are from a certain ethnicity, for example there are Asian organized crime groups in Vancouver. These groups are into the drug trade and are especially dominant in the methamphetamine trade in Canada. Approximately 70%of all methamphetamine production is done in British Columbia opposed to other places in Canada. Most of this production is meant for international market such as places like the US, and also Australia. Not only are these groups into the drug trade but they also make their profit from prostitution. These types of gangs are based in different places in Vancouver. There are also multi-Ethnic crime groups in Canada such as the United Nations.

These groups work in the drug trade, prostitution and also theft, there are groups like these anywhere there is an opportunity for profit. lower mainland of British Columbia is becoming a large drug port for the types of groups because of how close it is to the US

the main cartels we have in Canada are based in Mexico and have spread across the rest of North America. Typically Cartels control the drug trade, distributing drugs like cocaine to different places in North America that will generate the largest amount of profit. When people think of Mexican drug cartels they typically think of people like El Chapo or Pablo Escobar.
